How to play

A 5×5 board, teams take turns. Every turn has four steps, and the phone keeps track of all of it.

  1. Declare a tile

Pick any tile you don’t own, empty or someone else’s. The big number is its cost: how many words you need to get. Every tile starts at 4.

  2. Opponents sabotage

Each opposing team may play one sabotage: a shorter clock, mime only, a banned word… You answer with one power-up. Cards are viewed behind a curtain, so nobody peeks at another hand.

  3. Explain for 60 seconds

A die roll picks which word on each card you explain. Correct +1, skip −1. The word itself, words with the same root and translations are off limits; anything else goes.

  4. Claim it, draw a card

Hit the cost and the tile is yours. Light tiles pay a power-up, dark tiles a sabotage, the centre both. The first team with five tiles in a line wins: row, column or diagonal.

Every tile can be hijacked back. But every claim adds a chip, so the tile costs one more word each time.

Questions

Before your first game

How many players do we need?

At least four: 2 to 4 teams with at least two players each. Teams don’t have to be the same size, and within a team players explain in strict rotation.

How long does a game take?

A turn is 60 seconds (shorter or longer in the settings). A whole game depends on the number of teams and how much hijacking goes on; plan for roughly half an hour to an hour.

Can we play in English?

The menus, rules and cards switch to English in the settings, even in the middle of a game. The word deck you explain from is Bosnian for now.

How does nobody see the other hands?

Before every private screen the phone shows which team to pass it to. Cards are revealed only while that team holds a button down, and go back behind the curtain as soon as the phone moves on.
